Poverty, Addiction, Abuse, Dysfunction...
this is the tragic description of many of the women who come to us for help.
It is likely that your own circle of family and friends includes a single mother who is struggling to overcome life-controlling issues. Help in the form of residential guidance and training is the only remaining hope for many, but they usually have to refuse such help when it requires separation from their children.
While Teen Challenge and similar organizations are helping thousands of women, very few centers are equipped to provide ministry and transitional housing for both a mother and her children. Recognizing this need, the Rocky Mountain District Council of the Assemblies of God, through its Women's Ministries and Teen Challenge divisions, has established House of Promise.
House of Promise is an instrument through which Christ brings healing and wholeness to single mothers and their children in crisis.
Teen Challenge first opened its doors in 1958 in Brooklyn, New York, and since that time thousands have come seeking help from alcohol and drug addiction. Studies have shown a 70-86% cure rate for Teen Challenge graduates.
Residents at the over 250 centers in the United States are challenged to embrace the Christian faith. Researchers credit this spiritual component as the key to the high success rate of Teen Challenge graduates.
Residents follow rules and discipline, adhering to a daily schedule that includes chapel, Bible classes and work assignments on or near the grounds. House of Promise has adapted the proven ministries of Teen Challenge in addressing the needs of single mothers with life controlling problems. In a safe and stable environment, they will learn the Biblical principles which lead toward spiritual, emotional, mental, social and economic wholeness.

House of Promise includes on-site child care, enabling mothers to focus on the program without being separated from their children. Parenting skills will be taught, and children will also receive guidance to overcome any negative experiences. Residents will learn practical life applications that will result in an on-going relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church.
House of Promise is a turning point for women and their children in crisis. Generations caught in a cycle of dysfunction and abuse may experience hope and a future of promise!
